Tapping Local Energy to Fund our Cities

This year the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto initiated processes calling for new ideas to deal with the challenges of climate change. On May 11th Paul Mero will share an idea on how to use the most efficient heating and cooling systems – district wide ground source geothermal – in a new model which will also generate sustainable funding for municipal transit.

The presentation will examine the implications of using royalty based programs as an incentive for the Province, cities, companies, and residents to switch to locally available ground source geothermal resources.

Following the presentation there will be a discussion about the opportunities and challenges of using geothermal energy as a large-scale sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.

Please join us for this glimpse into a new way of making our cities sustainable.
