With 2015 shaping up to be the hottest year ever recorded, it's time we up the heat on Canada's politicians in the upcoming election. While politicians are frequently referred to as "leaders", truly they are followers of the electorate--their primary goal is always getting elected. In an era lacking political leadership on climate change, we need to organize voters so our politicians can follow. 

For the past month, students across the country have been taking inspiring and bold actions to confront the party leaders. Some actions have resulted in politicians responding by offering more details on their climate plans, some have resulted in great (and widely viewed) photos/videos of young people getting hauled off by security from public events.

These types of actions can have big impact in pushing the needle in Canadian politics. None of the parties platforms are ideal—though some are clearly better than others. In the end, it doesn’t much matter how strong the stances Mulcair and Trudeau are willing to take if Harper’s Conservatives form government on October 19th.
