EARTH DAY EVENTS TORONTO 2025

Earth Day is the perfect time to show your appreciation for our environment, just as Ontario starts to sprout for Spring! Cherry blossoms begin to bloom and everyone wants to get back outside into nature. Around town, you can find special events, environmental education, and neighbourhood clean-up opportunities. See below for a list of events happening in Toronto.

City of Toronto tree planting and stewardship events

Join to plant trees, shrubs and wildflowers, and help grow Toronto’s urban forest. As a volunteer you will:

  • Learn more about native trees, shrubs and invasive species

  • Learn how to plant a tree

  • Take part in environmental stewardship activities

  • Meet new people, make new friendships and network within the community

  • Gain experience, leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Acquire documented volunteer hours (if requested)

Clean Toronto together April 25-27

It's time for some spring cleaning! The 20th annual community cleanup returns this April 25 to 27.

Join thousands of residents, families, businesses and community groups for a simple yet impactful activity— spending just 20 minutes picking up litter in your neighbourhood. This self-directed event helps keep our parks beautiful by removing small plastics, cans, bottles and other harmful waste. Co-workers, neighbourhood groups, families and individuals can host community cleanups to help remove litter from our public spaces including parks, ravines, sidewalks and beaches.


Exhibition Place Earth Day Cleanup

This year, Exhibition Place invites you to be part of this important initiative by joining our Earth Day Cleanup Event alongside our Green Smart Committee and staff!

Date: April 22

Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Meeting Point: Gazebo at Centennial Park

Everything you need will be provided, including gloves, garbage bags, and other supplies. Just bring your energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for making a difference!

Community Environment days

Community Environment Days will run April 5 to September 28.

The City and local Councillors will host 47 in-community events across Toronto. Events will also be hosted at Drop-Off Depots in May, July and August. Drop off unwanted items for donation, recycling and safe disposal. This includes toys, old gaming systems and clothing for donation, electronics such as cameras, cell phones and laptops for recycling, and batteries, lightbulbs and propane tanks for safe disposal. You can also buy kitchen containers for organics and pick up free compost.


Earth Day at Downsview Park

You are invited to join in celebrating our planet and the environment on April 27th, 2025, at the Play Zone at Downsview Park. This event is free to the public andtake place rain or shine!

Bring your family and friends to enjoy hands-on activities. Take this opportunityto learn and connect with our education staff, and knowlegable vendors. Learn about ways to reduce your environmental footprint, connect with like-minded individuals and organizations, and celebrate our planet.

Evergreen Brickworks

Shop the Saturday Farmers Market for local, seasonal and artisanal items. Join the film screening and panel discussion on the people protecting waterways around the world. Learn creative ways to repurpose discarded items and make art from waste. Turn invasive plant species into beautiful artworks. Walk the Evergreen Brick Works site to learn about the waterways, plants and animals, and what you can do to protect them. Experience an immersive installation all about floods at Brick Works. From the Saturday Farmers Market to Sunday workshops, art installations and special pop up experiences—there are eco-fun for the whole family all month long!


Toronto History Museums: Earth Day Activities

Celebrate Earth Day throughout the month of April at Toronto History Museums to enjoy a variety of environment-focussed events and cultural opportunities. Most events are free, including up-cycling workshops, clean-up events, art exhibits, and community walks for all ages.


Arcadia Earth Toronto: Earth Fest

Arcadia Earth Toronto hosts Earth Fest, featuring a sustainable marketplace pop-up, a live animal meet & greet while learning from the Earth Rangers team, and free arts & crafts workshops to create reusable, up-cycled projects, with $1 from every ticket donated to Nature Conservancy Canada. There are also further Earth Day initiatives and activations throughout April to educate and inspire visitors to be a part of a greener future, including an all-new Earth Month Room featuring never-before-seen content.

Join earthday.org in Earth Action Day

Educate, advocate, and mobilize.

Pledge an Earth Action on social media. Attend/plan/register a local event. Educators – use this opportunity to integrate Earth Day lessons into your curricula. Access resources (plus quizzes, fact sheets, articles and more) to help you take action this Earth Day, April 22nd, and every day.


Seniors for Climate Change

Seniors For Climate Toronto is holding a family-friendly, entertaining outdoor event on Saturday, April 26. They envision an event that is colourful, attractive, interactive, festive, and galvanizing. They will bring people together to talk with them about how climate is related to their main concerns. They will give social justice and climate organizations the opportunity to make the links with their concerns by tabling.
